A Green Heart at the Centre of a Red Sun
Melodisynthesis and the Aviangelium. A poem for a Sunday in Ordinary (Green) Time.
Aviangelium and Melodisynthesis
In the centre of the bright red burning sun
A green heart beats an ancient song
Its light is heavenly music
And itโs sound is warmth in the chest
Here it is that the songbirds of the morning
Fly to find their melodies
And once they have parted with their gift
Back to earth they take wing with light in their beaks
To build nests for the weary, their heads to lay
Woven circles, spirations of light and sound
Their guardians, the tree folk, stretch forth
Their leafy fingers accepting life
Accepting song
The music makes their own heart throng
With the green of the inner sun
The synthesis of light as sound and sound as light
A photo and a melody-synthesis
It courses their veins and spirals on their breath
So life is passed from beak to branch to breast
A benediction
And then, back again
from breast to branch to beak
A prayer
A pulsating
A gift laid at the feet of Him of the Verdant Heart
It is His own, His art
An ageless gasp and a timeless sigh
The song of birds knits together earth and sky
Roots hold on for life so dear
Branches pull the heavens near
The breath of trees the elixir of eternal youth
The first communion, the first eucharist
A liturgy of aviangelists
Who chant the beatings of an ancient song
Of a green heart at the centre of a bright red burning sun

Enlightening, nourishing food for the soul.
